2022 was a year of growth and expansion for Carbon Tanzania, and one of change both within the organisation and across our operating environment.
Our team expanded, we began work on our latest large landscape carbon endeavour, the Ruvuma Wilderness Project and completed the second annual verification for the Yaeda Eyasi Landscape Project. We also continued to deepen our co-operation with the Government of Tanzania as they continue the challenging journey of regulating the carbon sector for the benefit of communities and the environment.
Despite geopolitical events, 2022 saw the continued growth of the global voluntary carbon market, now worth US$2bn annually.
We are proud to say that in 2022 we transferred nearly US$3M to our various community partners, revenues that are creating real value for nature, connecting some of Africa’s most marginalised people to the global financial system.
