The release of Carbon Tanzania’s 2025 Annual Report marks a significant milestone in our fifteen-year journey of channelling global carbon finance directly to the stewards of Tanzania’s forests. While our impact has always been rooted in community partnership, this report highlights the transition toward the institutional maturity required to lead in a maturing carbon market. Over the last 12 months, we have intentionally strengthened our internal systems and defined best-practices, allowing us to protect over 678,000 hectares of forest and channel a cumulative $20.4 million in community revenue with transparency.
Our forest protection efforts currently address 12 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is evidenced by 728,527 tonnes of CO2 equivalent verified as carbon credits, direct benefits for over 333,000 people, and the protection of 17 threatened species. Furthermore, our operations now support 470 individuals working in forest conservation.
Moving forward, we are adopting next-generation methodologies like Verra’s VM0048. This ensures that the growth of our portfolio, which aims for a 2.5x increase in capacity by 2035, is backed by the scientific rigor and operational excellence that our partners and the planet demand.
Ultimately, we believe that high-integrity data must be matched by human insight. We remain deeply committed to listening directly to our community partners to understand how carbon revenue transforms their daily lives, from reducing financial stress and paying school fees to providing feelings of safety and land security.
