Carbon Tanzania’s response to recent articles on forest carbon credits

By Marc Baker, and Jo Anderson, Founders, Carbon Tanzania We are sitting on the Chingole Ridge in southern Tanzania, discussing recent articles on carbon credits. About 100 metres away – and 80 metres lower – we can see a dense, green forest. Yet here it is gravely; a stunted, Miombo woodland. If you were to […]

How can we uphold the integrity of a growing carbon market?

The voluntary carbon market is in a period of exponential grow supported by the Taskforce on Scaling Voluntary Carbon Market (TSVCM), a private sector-led initiative working to scale the voluntary carbon market to help meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. There has never been a more important time to scrutinize the integrity of the market and […]

Interest in Nature-based Climate Solutions

During the COVID pandemic, Carbon Tanzania has continued to operate its existing projects thanks to our decentralised model of forest conservation. We have also experienced enhanced interest in our current projects, as well as in the potential for developing ever more schemes that fit into what is now popularly known as Nature-based Solutions to climate […]

In March 2020, Frank Kweka started work with Carbon Tanzania as the Ntakata Mountains REDD Project Manager. The World Green Economy Summit – a Reflection on the Worlds New Direction.

Carbon Tanzania at World Green Economy

The World Green Economy Summit felt like a far cry from Carbon Tanzania’s usual working environment, for someone who is used to walking though forests and sleeping under the stars, this hi-tech business driven summit in Dubai was not my ‘natural’ environment. So why were we there? This summit is one of the leading global […]

Is REDD+ working in the Yaeda Valley?

Epic verify Yaeda Valley - Carbon Tanzania

Carbon Tanzania has been collaborating with the Hadza Hunter-gatherer communities of the Yaeda Valley for the past 5 years, supporting them to protect their traditional forested lands where their ancient lifestyle sees them living off the wildlife-rich savannah woodlands. By enforcing their land rights that enshrine a plan to never farm the woodlands, forest carbon […]
